Only Companion cards benifit from Chain, your Chain does not fade if you play a non-Chain card.

Companion

Your Companion is a loyal battle-ally that will assist you during combat. Whenever you play a card that lets your Companion act, it plays one of the cards they have access to at random.

Chain

Increase the damage of the next action by 1 per stack. Chain fades if a played card did not increase Chain.
